Inspired by a random clip in an episode of Wiz Khalifa’s Day Today showing the view from an airplane, I decided to portray the divinity of the women who look like me. Before this painting, I hadn’t done an oil painting in a year so no matter how frustrating it was at times, it was a good refresher course. I showed this painting along with some other works at the recent State of the Art: Atlanta showcase. The platform the woman is sitting on is the wing of a plane. I’m in the process of finding my own voice. Deciding on what I want say and how I want to say it. I think I’m headed in the right direction.
